Farming is full of "Live and Learn" moments. One of my most common phrases here on the farm is "You don't know what you don't know until you know what you know". I spend many hours researching maintenance care (feed, parasite control, hoof trimming, etc) as well as specialty care (rare diseases and injuries) I would like to think that I take great care of all of our animals but even with the best of intentions and management, we have loss. Loss never gets easier and is devastating both emotional and financially. The best I can do is take a deep breath, make lots of mental and physical notes and continue on. Some things are environmental or genetic and are simply out of our control. Each day, I strive to do better and be more observant! Whether you are new to farming or a seasoned farmer, remember tomorrow is a new day!!!
